There is one main shopping centre in Ponta do Ouro which sells all the basics. Bread, sugar, milk, chocolates, cereal, tinned food, bait and many other odds and ends. At the open air market you can find some essential fresh vegetables such as tomatoes and lettuce.

If you find yourself with the urge to fish, but without tackle, the shop at Praia de Ouro Sul's Bar (recommended by the way) sells rods, lures, hooks and quite a few other useful items.

Recently a chemist with basic medicines has been established as well as a bank. The bank has ATM's which accept VISA credit cards - make sure you know your pin for your credit card.
